What the review covers

We read your latest filed Form 990 the way a program officer does before a renewal: how much of your spending reaches programs, whether spending is split across programs, admin and fundraising, how much of your income depends on a few sources, how many months your unrestricted reserves would last, how restricted money has moved, the governance answers in Part VI, and whether your filings are up to date.

It is not an audit, and we don’t need access to your books. The review uses public information only.

What you receive

A one-page scorecard that rates each check green, amber or red, with the numbers and the Form 990 lines they come from. Every number is checked by hand before the call. On the call we go through the questions a funder is most likely to ask you, and what monthly reporting would let you answer them with confidence. If you like, bring your current board report and we look at it together.

Who it’s for

US nonprofits that depend on grants, especially when the executive director is also the finance person. Organizations that file the 990-EZ or 990-N get a shorter review, because those returns show less.
